Loved it

We enjoyed our stay with friends at the General's Lodge. We are 4 seniors and and one of our group is disabled, so it was nice to have a main-floor bedroom for him.
The photos accurately reflect the property, so no surprises. The beds were comfortable and the linens were nice. We had plenty of towels and coffee was provided. A freshly baked bread basket was left for us, which we greatly enjoyed.
Because of Covid, we didn't eat out and were just a bit disappointed with the kitchen equipment. Needed a larger pot for soup, and a different sort of frying pan. It was hard to find what we needed in the drawers and cabinets because items weren't grouped but, being seasoned travelers, we coped.
The major problem we had couldn't be controlled by the owner or the housekeeper and that was a ladybug invasion. It was just the season for them and there were thousands outside and hundreds inside. The housekeeper offered to come over and sweep and vacuum them up, but we opted to do it ourselves. Again, no fault of the owner or the cabin management. It was just that time of year.
The housekeeper was very responsive and did come over at check-in when we couldn't get the door opened, then sent a maintenance man to repair the door handle.
We had a very nice time visiting with our friends, playing games and working puzzles, as well as hiking in the nearby parks.

The views and outdoor spaces in this cabin are wonderful! We spent lots of time there. There were other guests staying in a downstairs (basement) apartment, that we were not aware existed when we booked. Wasn’t a problem, but it would have been nice to know. Also, my husband has back problems and the beds were small (full) and very soft. Otherwise, the cabin was well equipped, as we cooked all our meals in. And I will end with 5 stars review for the views off the deck!

I wish I could rate higher than 5 stars!! The owners are more than outstanding in all that they do and in how they communicate. They make you feel like you are the most important person in the world and have intentionally arranged for an outstanding stay.

Easy check in. Communication with property owners was great.

This was one of the best guest experiences I've ever had. As a VRBO owner/rental manager myself, I have pretty high standards for a vacation property and its amenities; the General's Lodge met or exceeded my expectations in every way. The property was exactly as described. The owner was very responsive anytime I had a question. Everything was clean and tidy. All the amenities we needed were provided. And I highly recommend the concierge grocery service -- totally worth $35 to have all our groceries waiting for us when we arrived. The view from our porch was spectacular and just what we all needed for starting our day beautifully and for unwinding at the end of the day. What a sunset view across the valley and the mountains beyond! My family will definitely be back to the General's Lodge.
