Robinson's Roost offers approximately 3000/sf available for your group's accommodation. It features five (5) bedrooms and two (2) baths, an open living area which includes the kitchen, a 60in Ultra HDTV and DVD player; one dining area with 42in HD flat screen; plus a large sun porch. The bedrooms include two king beds, three queen beds, one extended double (the width of a full but the length of a queen) and two single beds, totalling eight (8) separate beds. Fourteen people sleep comfortably. The sheets are all 100% cotton, as are the towels. All are bleached when washed (did you know that chlorine bleach is the only way to kill most of those nasty germs? Who knew?). The terraced side yard includes a park-style grill and nearby picnic table providing a place to visit while the "grillmeister" of your group is at work. From the terraced yard or from the back door, follow the stone pathway to the water. The dock leading to the boathouse is equipped with ladders into the water. The dock has two roof extensions providing shade, a wooden swing, plus additional stationary seating. There is a series of 'boat bumpers' for boats tied to the dock, protecting the boat from bumping the dock. The water level is controlled by TVA (Tennessee Valley Authority) but generally fluctuates between 6-7 feet deep at the end of the pier. The boathouse is equipped with two garage doors that can be raised in order to open up the dock area, allowing easy access to the kayaks and canoe. Electric outlets are available to charge your batteries. The public boat launch is located immediately before turning into the area, about a two mile drive by land and perhaps 1.5-2 miles by water. After launching your watercraft, it is an easy boat ride to Robinson's Roost. There is parking for several vehicles and/or trailers. Ask for specifics when requesting your reservation. * I must include the necessary disclaimer: Proper use of equipment and property is required. Use at your own risk. For the bass fishermen, Robinson's Roost is located on the Main Channel of the Tennessee River, approximately 1.5-2 miles south of Goosepond Colony Resort (by boat), just north of Mink Creek in the North Sauty area. Goosepond Colony hosts multiple fishing tournaments annually and is available for refueling your boat while boating. Guntersville Lake is known for freshwater sports fishing, especially large mouth bass. Our 9-11 year olds love fishing from the dock, and are often quite successful. Any given day's catch might include bass, bream, catfish, crappie or even alligator gar! Come! Explore Alabama, the beautiful! More Details

× Why Carolyn Robinson chose Scottsboro Robinson's Roost was built in 1976 by my dad, who, from his youth spent his leisure hours fishing the Tennessee River (according to my grandmother, he fished during non-leisure hours too :). His love of fishing brought him and Mother back to the river, now Guntersville Lake, to build Robinson's Roost and to retire to the river. Our family spent many lazy summer days playing in the water and sun. We began swimming after breakfast, ate a lazy lunch on the dock, then swam and played until suppertime! Daddy was always ready to pilot the boat to take us waterskiing and he ensured that we had a good go of it throughout the day. He reveled in our abilities as future Cypress Garden stars (hmm, none of us achieved THAT goal!). Mother and Daddy established an open door policy, providing a safe haven for friends and family to visit, with an open invitation to stay as long as possible. All who showed up on their doorstep were welcomed guests. In fact, one Christmas holiday Mother and Daddy entertained 20 people as overnight guests for over a week! We had a grand time and still reminisce over the events of that week. My parents truly believed, 'The more, the merrier!' The wonder and fascination of the river continues here at Robinson's Roost. Come. Make memories here! What makes this house unique Robinson's Roost is located on a winding road through a wooded area. You just might spy some of our four-footed residents such as white-tail deer, raccoons, rabbits and maybe a fox or two. Stay alert! At night an albino skunk family may be found wandering around the neighborhood! If you are a bird watcher, keep your peepers open. Perhaps you'll spy our national bird, the bald eagle, or perhaps a bluebird, wren, pileated woodpecker (of Woody Woodpecker fame--huge!), tufted titmouse, chickadee, downy woodpecker, red-headed woodpecker, yellowhammer (woodpecker that is the Alabama state bird) or another specimen altogether. During the summer, look to the sky and keep your ears sharp. Maybe you'll hear an osprey whistling high above the river long before you see him. The ospreys nest in the trees surrounding Robinson's Roost. Around July 25 the adults circle overhead, calling to their nestlings, coaxing them to join them in the sky. It is an exciting day when the osprey fledglings take flight! For the fishermen, Robinson's Roost is conveniently located near GoosePond Colony & Marina, the location of multiple fishing tournaments annually. Guestbook comments from the owner Thank you so much, again, for working with us to stay in your cabin. It was beautiful! We were shocked and pleasantly surprised by how bright, spacious and tastefully decorated it was. (Most cabins in the area we researched were very dark, a bit run down.. and let me tell you, the word "rustic" seems to have a very broad definition!) Your place was perfect for us and our refreshing stay with family! We'd love to come back next time we're in the area for a visit. Oct 2014 1 of 1 ... continue reading
Lovely home, beautiful views, lots of room, loved being able to fish and to spread out. It was the perfect place for our family trip. Everyone (from 2 to 70) had a great time.

Robinsons Roost was a perfect location and home for our family reunion. We enjoyed the easy access to the dock and the fully-equipped kitchen. The bedrooms are set up with plenty of areas to sleep. Even though there are only two bathrooms, they both have large, newly remodeled showers and spacious vanities. The owner was extremely easy to work with and very accommodating.

Four generations, from 3 to 73 years old, came together at Robinson's Roost for a wonderful celebration of my parents' 50th anniversary. We came from all over the country (CA, AR, and MI!) back to Sweet Home Alabama where our family began all because two people fell in love.♥
This lake house was definitely the perfect fit for us - we used all 5 bedrooms and put the teenagers in the sunroom. The long dining table is fantastic for meals and card games!! One note is that the kitchen, main living areas, and the 2 bedrooms with one bed each are "upstairs". The 3 bedrooms with two beds each are all downstairs. It worked out fine, but if you have older or less able patrons in your party, it's good to know when planning room assignments. :)
We had SO much fun! The canoe and kayaks were used every single day. Has anyone else ever heard of float Frisbee? I learned that it's like Ultimate Frisbee, but everyone's on a float in the water - and it is incredibly entertaining to watch from the boathouse swing!! We also rented a pontoon boat from Jackson Co Marina for a day and went fishing and tubing. We never caught any fish from the dock (too much Float Frisbee going on!) but we caught 4 good size bass out and around the bend to the left when you leave the house. ;)
There was so much room for everyone to spread out. Little ones took naps downstairs, old ones read and visited upstairs, and teenagers got away in the sunroom (with their own little fridge for drinks and snacks!). And, when we all came together, there was plenty of space for that too. I will never, ever forget our night time family devotionals and prayers in the living room. We all found great books to read, discuss and relish (and even order from Amazon when we got home!). You have a lake house ministry, Miss Carolyn!
Thank you so much for allowing us to meet and enjoy such a beautiful time together at your home! God Bless!!

Enjoyed our stay at Robinson's Roost. Kids loved tubing and fishing. The grass was somewhat of a problem with swimming, but overall we had a great visit. I do have one suggestion, the step down from back door to deck needs to be marked. Several of us almost fell. Maybe paint an orange strip on edge of step. (it is an unexpected step)

The location, the space inside and the view made this a perfect place for our large family gathering. We will be back next year.
