One of the Best Family Vacations Ever
The condo was as advertised - lovely with mostly high-end furnishings/upgrades. The view of the beach and ocean were perfect. It is on the 2nd story right above the pool, which was ideal. The beds were comfortable and large. The kids bunk beds were safe and perfect for our older (3 and 5 yoa) boys. If you use the trundle underneath, it gets a bit difficult to open the doors to the kids room. The washer -dryer is in a closet in the kitchen hallway, which can be a bit loud in the children's room/kitchen. The master bed/bath is ideal, except for the shower curtain hooks, which catch/grind/squeak. The 2nd bedroom is also quite nice with it's own en-suite. The outside closet is jam-packed (arguably too much so) with beach equipment. The balcony/patio has large/high furniture, somewhat unsuitable for children. The TVs had cable and satellite, and the main TV had Netflix and Amazon Video. The kitchen was well-stocked. There were a few minor detractors - the bathroom linens were hotel-standard white and thin; the dishwasher was not properly installed and fell forward when opened. Overall, an extremely pleasant experience and highly recommended.
The resort is a bit out of the way, but we wanted that. It has a somewhat odd layout with the ice cream shop, guest services, and the hideaway grill/pub detached from the main resort. They were not a short walk away. The ice cream shop closed at 5pm each day as well. Both concepts lead to a poor business strategy. At the resort, the pools are ideally positioned outside the clubhouse and each condo building. They are well-maintained. The resort offered children's crafts and bomb-pops each day. The food taste was very good at both the poolside grill and at Coast restaurant...but the service at Coast was atrocious. Long wait two nights in a row for under-cooked food on one night. They did discount the meals by 25% and add free appetizers as apologies.
There was one policy about the resort that upset us (nothing the condo owners could directly control.) Fishing was permitted on the same resort beaches as swimming. On day 1 my 5 year old reached down and retrieved from the sand a 2-inch serrated fish hook lost from a broken line. We were 10-20 feet from the beach in 1-2 ft deep water. I have been to beaches all along the East Coast, Gulf, West Coast and Mexico. This was the first time I have seen fishing permitted among swimming.
