A place of history, leisure and nature, the Fort Morgan peninsula extends like a long finger west of Gulf Shores, Alabama. If you're looking to get away from crowded beach bars and tacky souvenir shops, this section of the Alabama Gulf Coast is a good option. Much of the peninsula is part of a protected wildlife refuge, but many beachfront accommodations are available. You may have to drive to Gulf Shores to pick up major supplies, but it's well worth that small hassle to experience these pristine, sparkling sugar-white sands on your beach vacation.
